Hi,

Sam and I are running this 10k running event in memory of Sam's best mate, Lachie Muldoon, who lost his short 6 month battle with brain cancer on Tuesday 13th October, aged only 10 years old. This will hopefully be the first of many events Sam and I do together to help fight the evils of cancer, and honor the life of a great little lad, who loved life and especially loved sport.

For this 10k run, we are supporting the San Foundation to help fight ALL forms of cancer.

A diagnosis of cancer is usually a stressful and confusing experience for a patient and their loved ones. The reality is that by the age of 85, 1 in 2 Australian men and 1 in 3 women will have been diagnosed with cancer at some stage of their life (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 2012).

The San is dedicated to meeting the challenges of cancer through the new San Integrated Cancer Centre, as part of the hospital’s $240m major redevelopment.

San Foundation, thanks to the generosity of so many wonderful friends in our community has made amazing progress towards our target of raising $20 million – our heartfelt thanks. With just over $13m pledged we now need your help to reach our target and finish the job.

San Foundation is seeking support from the community to raise the remaining $7m to complete the $20m San Integrated Cancer Centre.
